Thoughtfully designed, sensory rich parks and playgrounds make an immense contribution to the communities they serve. At BRR, we design appealing, enriching public recreational spaces that provide opportunities for engagement and enjoyment for people of all ages and abilities.

Housing and accessible outdoor common spaces are just two crucial elements of good campus design. With a growing need to accommodate a dynamic academic structure, we provide design solutions to colleges and universities that help support their institutional mission.

Former rail trails provide unique opportunities for multi-use paths that benefit surrounding communities. By revitalizing these abandoned spaces, we help give members of the community access to nearby outdoor recreation, alternative transportation routes, and natural respite.

Attractive, welcoming designs are essential to the successful establishment and rehabilitation of urban and suburban offices, retail locations, accommodations, and mixed-use projects. We have contributed to the completion of nine significant LEED commercial projects.

New and rehabilitated multifamily housing developments, including affordable and senior housing, are about more than the indoor spaces they provide. Providing valuable outdoor spaces and clean and safe circulation helps residents connect with their neighbors and feel at home.

We collaborate with artisans and craftspeople across New England to create outdoor spaces made for you. We provide master planning and landscape design services in urban, suburban, and country residences across the region to help achieve the desired vision for each property.

Abundant opportunities for recreation along ocean, rivers, lakes, and marshes makes New England unique. Facing the effects of climate change, these vulnerable spaces create a design challenge that can co-exist with sea level rise to continue providing citizens with shoreline access.

Thoughtful master plans help neighborhoods, towns, and cities plan for the future. Working with the municipalities and residents, we establish options to connect citizens with resources, open spaces, and surrounding communities that meet current and future needs.

New England is rich with historically and culturally important landscapes. Since our founding in 1981, we have worked to rehabilitate, preserve, and restore these landmarks while maintaining their historical integrity for future generations to explore, learn from, and enjoy.

Increasing urban density has created a demand for Complete Streets that accommodate all users, including motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. We design universally accessible sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and separated off road trails for people of all ages and abilities.

Public buildings and grounds are a source of pride for many municipalities. We design welcoming, beautiful, accessible grounds with comfortable outdoor spaces for civic facilities including libraries, city and town halls, and courthouses that foster pride and engagement.

Since 2009, we have assisted the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs with this important state program to advance park equity and open space quality in 26 designated “Gateway Cities.”  We assess opportunities and design parks, playgrounds, bike trails, historic landscapes, and more.
