City of Cambridge Community Development Department

Russell Field is near the Alewife Brook Parkway, Jerry’s Pond, and the Alewife MBTA Station in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The park contains an artificial turf high school football field, lighting, a soccer field, two Little League baseball fields and the Linear Park Bikeway. The $9 million park rehabilitation added a field house, artificial turf, bleachers, and a totlot and remediated small quantities of asbestos. Artist Taylor Davis designed a bus shelter at the entrance on Rindge Avenue. BRR completed the feasibility study and the design for this renovation and expansion. The City used BRR’s completed study to pursue funding. The football field and field house opened officially in October 2007. Russell Field received LEED certification in 2008. Rizzo Associates (now Tetra Tech) provided engineering, permitting and construction management services to our team.
