Constitution Beach is a 28-acre park located in Orient Heights, in an inlet off of Boston Harbor. Brown, Richardson + Rowe helped revitalize this beach park as part of the Metropolitan District Commission’s "Back to the Beaches" Program. Our rehabilitation plan reflected community priorities, and created a seashore environment in the middle of the city. Our subconsultant, Leers Weinzapfel, designed the sea blue missile barrier for the  pedestrian bridge. We moved the driveway inland, re-sanded the beach,  consolidated green space next to the water, designed a large playground, athletic facilities, shade structures, and picnic areas, and incorporated fast-growing shade trees, coarse grasses and beach perennials.
