Worcester, MA

Brown, Richardson & Rowe worked with Greenman-Pedersen, Inc., to develop the landscape design for the extension of the improvements to Route 146, the Worcester/ Providence Highway, in Hurley Square.

The project entails construction of 1 mile segment of Route 146 between Providence Street and Brosnihan Square and reconstruction of 2 miles of local streets. Our work included the grading and planting design of the large infield area of the interchange, planting on the upland slopes with in the project right-of-way, landscape treatment along the improved local streets, a pedestrian plaza along the historic Blackstone River and pedestrian plazas at the pedestrian bridge landings.

The plant species selected for the planting design are low-maintenance, adaptable to adverse conditions, and characteristic of the immediate area.
