The Blue Cross Blue Shield Customer Service Center, designed by Margulies and Associates, Inc., Boston, is a new 325,000-square-foot, four-story office building and parking garage on a 32-acre wooded site in Hingham, MA.
Brown, Richardson & Rowe designed the site to minimize disturbance to the densely wooded property and retain as many of the mature trees as possible, providing building occupants with nearby views of the natural environment. The existing mature trees and the grading design nestle the building within the existing topography, helping to reduce the scale of the four-story building and uniting the building with the landscape.
Working with Bright Horizons Family Solutions, we implemented an 8,000 square foot play area for the on-site daycare center. We are also providing construction administration services for both the interior and exterior landscape elements.
The building and site adhere to principles of sustainable design, and the project anticipates receiving a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating. The Hingham site is one of two LEED-eligible projects the firm has worked on for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
