Providence, RI
At the end of November 2006 Brown Richardson and Rowe were notified that the firm had won first prize. We entered the competition because we were inspired by the potential of the proposed waterfront park system. Parades will wind down Dorrance Street though the park to the river's edge. The Ember Summer House, green lawns, a small hill, views up and down the river, a one of a kind playground and a sculpture garden are all elements of the design. These elements will encourage people of all ages to use the parks throughout the day and in different seasons of the year. The parks will be constructed on land formerly occupied by route 195
