East Boston, MA

The 41.5-acre Bremen Street and Memorial Stadium Parks are Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel mitigation projects. Brown, Richardson & Rowe, Inc., as final designer, worked with the East Boston community and with City and State agencies to complete the design of and public process for the two parks.

Bremen Street Park includes extensive playgrounds, a generously-scaled, multi-purpose spray pool, large open lawns, a community garden, a performance amphitheater, and restoration of the historic WPA wall. Brown, Richardson & Rowe collaborated with a local artist to incorporate expressions of local history, both in a free-standing sculptural piece and through adaptations of artist-inspired forms in park elements. The planting plan includes an "elm walk" to recreate for the community a remembrance of the great elm allees of the much-loved Wood Island Park, designed by Olmsted.

The park will open in 2007.
